Jindal Power Limited wins National Safety Award

Conferred by the National Safety Council of India for developing and implementing effective occupational health and safety management systems and processes.
New Delhi, November 08, 2014: Jindal Power Limited (JPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), has won the National Safety Award from the National Safety Council of India; for developing and implementing effective occupational health and safety management systems and processes.
The Hon’ble Union Minister for Labour & Employment, Steel and Mines - Mr Narendra Singh Tomar conferred the National Award to JPL - Tamnar, which was represented by Mr. Ramniwas (Executive Director) & Mr. Shiv Kumar Singh( Head-Safety); in a ceremony held in Mumbai recently.
On this notable achievement, Mr Ravi Uppal, MD & Group CEO, JSPL, said - "JPL prides itself on the sound occupational health and safety practices embedded in the Company. We are pleased to receive this prestigious award from the National Safety Council of India."

The company is expanding its capacity at Tamnar, (Phase 2) by setting up a 2400 MW (4 X 600 MW) thermal power plant, 3 units of 600 MW have already been commissioned and fourth unit is scheduled for synchronization by the end of this fiscal.
Additionally, JPL has signed agreements for development of three hydroelectric projects with combined capacity of 5600 MW, in a joint venture with HPDCAPL (Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited).
